Fibersol®-2 in Dry Beverage Mixes
Fibersol®-2 digestion resistant maltodextrin has been incorporated into a dry beverage mix "stick pack" to be added to a 16.9 ounce water bottle. The resistant maltodextrin incorporated into the dry-blended product serves to enhance the overall nutritional profile of the beverages through the addition of soluble dietary fiber.
Stick Packs
Fibersol®-2 was dry-blended with powdered flavor, acidulant, and high-intensity sweetener to produce a dry beverage mix that could be used to add flavor and fiber content to a standard 16.9 ounce water bottle. The dry blend had excellent flowability, and was packaged into individual-serving "stick packs", each containing 5.6 g of resistant maltodextrin, providing 5 g of dietary fiber, for an “excellent source” claim. The resistant maltodextrin readily dissolves into solution when added to water and mixed, without adding flavor or mouthfeel, making it an easy way to incorporate soluble dietary fiber into one's diet. Three flavors were produced to demonstrate how this can be done at any time of the day: orange, for the morning, lime, for the afternoon, and piña colada, for the evening.
